30 Days in France

La Deuxième Fois

The first time went so well.

What could possibly go wrong?

After September 2023 in France we decided to go back in May 2024. My French proficiency was at the B2 level grace à la pandemie et mon prof sur Skype et donc pourquoi pas? The French are really very friendly and gracious if you speak French a bit better than a tourist and you get the pronunciation and liaisons correct. Yeah I know, but still — we were treated like talking dogs. Cute dogs. Mais la vache, they speak!

Everything went swimmingly.

This time we started in Geneva with friends, then Annecy (actually stayed in Talloires) and Lyon. Finally, we spent 2 weeks in Paris which had waited patiently for us to return. More lunches and dinners with friends, wine and cheese tastings, private tours of historical and architectural gems, expos, museums and much more walking than you would expect from les Américains.

Yvoire, Gruyères, Talloires, Annecy, Lyon

And like Gaston Lagaffe says: M’enfin!

Paris!
